Fabulous Women Over 50 from throughout the United States of America will compete for the title of Ms. Golden America in Fort Myers, Florida. The pageant will take place at the Harborside Event Center on October 29, 2005.
Naples, FL, August 15, 2005 – Ms. Golden America, Inc. has released the names of the women who will compete for the title of Ms. Golden America on October 29, 2005 at the Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers, Florida.
With the purpose of focusing on the beauty and accomplishments of women baby boomers and “early seniors”, Ms. Golden America, Inc. based in Naples, Florida developed this pageant much like the “Miss” pageants people have watched for decades. Ms. Golden America is for women age fifty and above and unlike its younger counterparts, there is no swimsuit competition.
“The contestants in this year’s inaugural pageant are between the ages of 51 and 65 and come from across the country. It is a fantastic group of women and I will be happy with whoever wins the crown”, states founder and director, Kathleen LeSage. “The fifteen women competing in the pageant were chosen from a field of over 750 applicants, so all of them are winners already.”
The contestants in this year’s pageant are as follows:
Brenda J. Rountree, age 60, from Canton, Michigan. Brenda is an accountant, an avid golfer and just got her first “whole in one”. She enjoys traveling in the Caribbean.
Dorita Roderick, age 54, from Lebanon, Missouri. Dorita is the mother to former Miss Missouri USA and has worked in the modeling industry for 40 years.
Elle Nash, age 64, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Elle is the owner of “Fit over Fifty” and is a senior personal trainer. She is a former Miss Manhattan from the 60’s.
Gale Blanchard, age 64, from Henderson, Nevada. Gale decided to become a flight attendant at the age of 51 and recently retired from that career. She is active in her community and loves tennis.
Hazel M. Ewing, age 65, from North East, Maryland. Hazel will turn 66 the day before the pageant is an avid jogger. She runs four miles a day. She is employed as a release of records administrator.
Jerri Kay, age 65, from Las Vegas, Nevada. Jerri is a former talent agency owner. She owned “Metamorphosis” for 30 years and taught others acting and modeling.
Joyce O’Brien, age 55, from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Joyce has been married for 36 years and is employed as the Community Liasion for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. She was recently a runner up in Mrs. Pennsylvania.
Lauren Monahan, age 52, from Knoxville, Tennessee. Lauren works for the Mayor’s Office in Knoxville and is the Director of Senior Services. She is a former Miami Dolphins Cheerleader.
Lucy Johnson, age 53, from Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania. Lucy is a very active person and loves sports, especially tennis and golf. She has traveled extensively around Europe teaching fitness classes.
Micki D. Shirar, age 60, from Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Micki has been a resident of Florida for over 30 years and currently works as a Paralegal for the Collier County School Board. She married her soul mate at the age of 55.
Natalie Vaslvasky, age 57, from Baltimore, Maryland. Natalie is an Information Technology professional and is an avid runner who runs in marathons. She is an advocate for fair pay for women.
Paula Lee McMains, age 56, from Henderson, Nevada. Paula is a writer and personal assistant. She also works as a senior model. Paula is the grandmother of eleven.
Regina Harrison, age 65, from Las Vegas, Nevada. Regina is a substitute teacher. She returned to college at the age of 57 and received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree.
Rhonda Howdyshell, age 51, from Middlebrook, Virginia. Rhonda is the Executive Director for her area’s Habitat for Humanity. She has been honored for her help in building an international living history museum and recently received a patent for an invention.
Rita Rocker, age 56, from Omaha, Nebraska. Rita is a former Mrs. Nebraska and has appeared on a national television and radio talk shows on self-esteem and communications issues. She has traveled to Haiti on mission trips.
Ms. Golden America will win an array of prizes totaling over $10,000, including a personal appearance contract, a week for two to New Life
Hiking Spa in Killington, Vermont and a diamond solitaire necklace.
The pageant is currently under production for a one-hour special on the Sky Angel satellite network and is scheduled to air December 17, 2005 at 8:00 p.m.
